Django and JetBrains are running a fall fundraiser in which new or renewed PyCharm licenses are offered at a 30% discount, with JetBrains matching the contribution to the Django Software Foundation. The campaign supports Django maintenance, community programs, events, contributor onboarding, and the Foundation's planned Executive Director role.

### Source excerpt

We are back with our friends at JetBrains for the second of the two "Buy PyCharm, Support Django" fundraisers we run together each year. Our spring campaign was the first. It remains one of the most impactful ways the community can support the Django Software Foundation. Your support of this campaign helps fund key initiatives such as: A Django Executive Director: Funding our first Executive Director, who will lead fundraising, operations, and community coordination for the Foundation. Django Fellows: Ensuring the rapid development and maintenance of Django. Django Girls: Making the Django community accessible to programming beginners around the world. International events and conferences: Supporting DjangoCons, one-day events, meetups, and other community gatherings around the world. Djangonaut Space: Onboarding new contributors to the Django project. The Executive Director role is new, which is why this campaign matters more than usual. The DSF raises around $300,000 a year today. Reaching $500,000 is what makes a full-time Executive Director sustainable, and campaigns like this one are how we close that gap. If leading that work sounds like you, applications are open until September 14, 2026. How the campaign works The campaign runs until September 10, 2026. When you buy a new PyCharm license or renew an existing one at a 30% discount through our special campaign link, JetBrains will donate an equal amount to the Django Software Foundation. You get a professional IDE that is trusted by Django developers worldwide, and the DSF receives a matched contribution. Get 30% off PyCharm, Support Django Thank you, JetBrains Beyond this campaign, JetBrains contributes to the Django ecosystem in ways that are easy to overlook but hard to overstate. The 2026 Django Developers Survey was published earlier this summer, and along with the Python Developers Survey, it gives the entire community a clearer picture of where Django and Python are heading each year. Pinterest introduces Pinner Progression, a recommendation-system program that uses persistent User Interest Clusters to improve discovery and make retention a first-class objective alongside engagement.

Our recommendation system serves hundreds of millions of users, surfacing billions of Pins across interests ranging from home renovation to meal planning to wedding decor. The home feed , where much of that discovery happens, is powered by a multi-stage pipeline spanning retrieval, lightweight scoring, ranking, and re-ranking [1][2][3]. Most of our prior work on this pipeline has been optimized for engagement: clicks, saves, downloads, closeups. These are strong signals of immediate relevance, and optimizing for them has driven significant gains across the system [4][5]. The problem is that engagement and retention are different things. A user can save ten sourdough recipes today and churn next month anyway. All we did was feed them more of what they already liked: we never helped them find something new for next time. This post is one of two that introduces Pinner Progression, a program that reframes the home feed recommendation system around retention as a first-class objective. Our core insight is that by augmenting sequential, action-by-action user understanding with holistic, persistent use-case representation, we can reliably anticipate the user's next moves and start to serve recommendations that ignite their serendipitous discovery. In this post, we introduce the key use-case representation signal: User Interest Clusters (UICs) -- and describe its construction, integration into the recommendation stack, and impact on engagement on retention metrics. A follow-up will cover how we predict unseen UICs and conduct systematic us

### Source excerpt

The cybersecurity landscape is changing fast. At 1Password, that means we're continuously evolving what we work on, how we work, and the culture we need to achieve our goals. Last year, I wrote about what high performance means to us. As our industry continues to move quickly, I want to share a more holistic view of the culture we're continuing to shape and strengthen to meet this moment. I recently joined the Culture Uncoveredpodcast to talk about what that looks like in practice. Now, I'm bringing some of those reflections here for anyone exploring a career at 1Password, and for people-focused practitioners curious about how culture evolves inside a growing security company. I joined in early 2022, the same year we closed our Series C, which was, at the time, the largest round raised by a Canadian company. Since then, we've entered a chapter of incredible growth. As we scale, a big part of my role is to honour the culture that got us here while making sure our people and systems are ready for our future. Here's what we're focused on right now. How we're enabling our people to lead with AI This is one of the most significant shifts happening across our company and our industry. At 1Password, we're continuing to invest in our people to help them develop AI fluency, use best-in-class tools and integrations with confidence, and do their best work. We've reached roughly 98% adoption of AI tooling internally, with AI Champions embedded across departments. "AI Champions" are employees who are trained to experiment with workflows, drive peer learning, and build AI confidence in practical ways. What we've learned along the way is that the process is about being curious, listening intently to employee feedback, and building trust. Our team members have important q
