JetKVM Mini is a smaller, lower-cost KVM over IP device based on the ESP32-P4X instead of Linux running on a Rockchip SoC. It provides Ethernet or WiFi connectivity, 1080p video capture, H.264 streaming over WebRTC, USB device emulation, and an information display. Its firmware uses FreeRTOS and ESP-IDF, while JetKVM OS Services add features such as 4K screen capture, shared clipboard, a guest terminal, and file transfer on compatible hosts.

### Source excerpt

JetKVM Mini is a smaller, lower-cost version of the popular JetKVM KVM over IP solution. The new model features a small information display, offers Ethernet or WiFi connectivity, and supports 1080p video capture. The main under-the-hood change is that they ditched Linux on a Rockchip RV1106G3 SoC and now rely on an ESP32-P4X (ESP32-P4 version 3.x and greater) to handle video capture, H.264 encoding, USB, and other features. This article describes an Agentic SOC that uses AI agents and a continuous streaming architecture to investigate security alerts. Its pipeline combines central triage, specialized evidence agents, adversarial evaluation, and a self-learning knowledge base to analyze every alert, escalate higher-value cases, and surface true positives for analyst review. The approach is intended to address the backlog of low-priority alerts, including Data Loss Prevention alerts, whose volume makes manual investigation impractical.

### AI overview

A developer experiments with modifying a cheap CarPlay dongle to run custom code while preserving regular CarPlay functionality. After receiving a different SoC than expected, they use LLM-assisted discussions to flash the device and compile CatPlay, a Rust reimplementation of the CarPlay protocol, for the hardware.

### Source excerpt

A few weeks ago I felt like it would be fun to see if I can make one of those cheap Chinese CarPlay dongles run something other than the stock firmware. The idea was that rather than just forwarding CarPlay, why not do something more interesting with them? They all work quite similarly: they act as bridges between your car and the phone. From there they deal with video and audio streams and pass some other data through. Most of them also bring up a custom UI for pairing and have a web interface that your phone can reach for updates. Long story short: I had a conversation with Fable and Sol via Pi about what could be done with such a dongle or whether I should use a Raspberry Pi instead if I wanted to do my own thing there. I figured it might be quite fun to run my own code while still allowing regular CarPlay to pass through. Through working with the LLM I learned about CatPlay, which is a Rust reimplementation of the CarPlay protocol that can run on Carlinkit devices. In particular, it can run on the Carlinkit Mini Ultra, which I figured would be easy enough to buy. I do have a few CarPlay adapters around, but I did not have that particular model, so I bought one on Amazon. Twenty-four hours later, I had a device in my hand that was branded as a Carlinkit Mini Ultra, but instead of being the Ingenic device that the original author used, it turned out to be something else. This is normally where the story would stop. However, it's 2026. Armed with a bit of knowledge about how these systems work, I managed to have some fruitful discussions with Kimi K3 and Sol and figure out how flash the device and in turn, how to make CatPlay compile for that SoC. I guess that hacking these USB devices is not necessarily hard, but it's laborious and you can easily end up bricking your devices. It also just sucks because sometimes you need to work with someone else's code that does not itself run on your machine. In the past, I would abandon many such projects for lack of tenacity.

### Source excerpt

Circuit Valley's CHC5 is a modular camera system based on a Core board powered by an AMD/Xilinx Zynq-7020 SoC FPGA, a range of interface boards with USB, HDMI, or Ethernet (PoE), various sensor boards, and a metal enclosure. The solution can be customized with different lens objectives and different sensors with MIPI D-PHY, LVDS, Sub-LVDS, Low Voltage LVDS, or SLVS interfaces. The Zynq-7020's Cortex-A9 cores can handle complex tasks, while the FPGA fabric takes care of high-speed calculation and correction on the image, and can also be leveraged for AI/machine-vision-specific algorithms or complex low-latency hardware acceleration. CHC5 specifications: Core board SoC - Xilinx AMD Zynq-7020 SoC FPGA CPU - Dual-core Arm Cortex-A9 processor FPGA - 85K logic cells, 4.9Mb Block RAM, 220 DSP slices System Memory - 1GB DDR3 Storage 1 Gbit flash memory MicroSD card slot ISP - Full-fledged ISP implemented on FPGA fabric Multiple interface boards with 10Gbps [...] The post Circuit Valley CHC5 - A modular USB, HDMI, and Ethernet camera system (Crowdfunding) appeared first on CNX Software - Embedded Systems News.

D-Robotics RDK S100P development kit is a robotics SBC built around an S100P-based module providing an alternative to NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16GB with a 6-core Cortex-A78AE application cluster, a 4-core Cortex-R52+ MCU domain, a Nash BPU rated at 128 TOPS INT8, a Mali-G78AE GPU, and 24 GB of LPDDR5. The four R52+ cores can be configured for reliable real-time control: two cores run in lockstep for safety, and the other two support split-lock operation. In practice, the A78AE CPU and BPU can handle Linux and vision processing, while the MCU handles time-critical tasks such as motor and sensor I/O. This can reduce the need for a separate real-time controller, although whether it eliminates one depends on the robot and its requirements. ### AI overview

This article explains how GitLab custom compliance framework templates help teams define controls, continuously monitor adherence, and prepare for audits. It uses SOC 2 as a central example and covers templates, policies, compliance requirements, and automated checks across GitLab deployment options.

### Source excerpt

Compliance is the part of software delivery that everyone agrees is important, yet nobody enjoys. It often lives in spreadsheets, screenshots, and the quiet dread of an upcoming audit. GitLab's custom compliance frameworks work differently. Instead of documenting what should be true about your projects, you define the controls once and let the platform continuously verify what is true. In this article, you'll learn why compliance adherence matters, how to stand up a SOC 2 framework in minutes using a template, how to monitor adherence on an ongoing basis, how to enforce compliance with policies, and which standards already ship as ready-to-use templates. You'll also get a look at where AI-specific compliance templates are heading. You can watch the video below to see it in action: Tier note: Compliance frameworks are available in Premium and Ultimate. Framework requirements and controls, the checks that power adherence reporting and the compliance status report, require Ultimate. Everything here applies to GitLab.com, GitLab Self-Managed, and GitLab Dedicated. Why compliance adherence matters and how custom frameworks help Regulatory and contractual obligations like SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and FedRAMP exist because customers, partners, and regulators need assurance that your software is built and shipped responsibly. Falling short isn't just a paperwork problem. It can block deals, trigger fines, delay product launches, and erode trust. Compliance also isn't a one-time event. A project that was compliant at audit time can drift the moment someone disables a scanner, removes branch protection, or merges without the required approvals. Custom compliance frameworks are designed to close that gap. A compliance framework in GitLab is a label you create on a top-level group to identify projects that carry specific compliance obligations or need extra oversight. On its own that label provides organization and visibility. In Ultimate, a framework can also carry requireme
